The Stony Brook University MA Program will be hosting its Third Annual
Philosophy and the Arts Conference on March 26-27, 2010, at its
Manhattan facility in New York. We are excited to announce the
presence of our keynote speaker, Simon Critchley of the New School for
Social Research, who will deliver a paper addressing this year's
conference title, "Collectively." We anticipate that our conference's
investigation of the concept of "the collective" will have widespread
appeal and generate even greater enthusiasm than in previous years.
Our popular, innovative annual conference facilitates dialogue between
the general fields of Philosophy and Art through both formal panel
events and the installation and discussion of graduate student
artwork. We welcome submissions from multiple disciplines,
interdisciplinary perspectives, and diverse artistic backgrounds. As
such, we strongly encourage students working in the fields of the
Visual Arts, Music, Art Theory and Criticism, Comparative Literature,
Cultural Studies, Art History, Women's Studies, etc., to submit their
work.
We are currently accepting submissions of both grad student papers and
original artwork in any medium, including performance. Please visit
our conference website at http://www.philosophyartconference.org and
click on '2010 Conference' to read the full Call for Papers and
Artwork and to view the submission instructions. All submissions
should be suitable for a 20-minute presentation (approximately 3000
words) and formatted for blind review. The entry deadline is January
13th, 2010.
Please contact the conference coordinator at
philosophyartconference@gmail.com for help with any questions.
Sincerely,
Alyssa Kamin
