The Department of Sociology is New Zealand's top-ranked Sociology department. The vibrant nature of the Department is reflected in the research innovation and teaching expertise of its 14 full-time academic staff. The staff's teaching and research interests cover a wide range of areas, including modernity, work, technologies, consumerism, family, death, science, the arts, popular culture, social justice and social policy, emotions, food, religion, global capitalism, poverty and development, law, crime, ethnicity, organisations, gender and sexuality, professionalism and political economy.

PROFESSOR/ASSOCIATE PROFESSOR IN SOCIOLOGY

The Department is seeking to appoint a senior academic with a distinguished record of research, service, teaching, graduate supervision, and academic leadership. The successful candidate will be expected to take on the role of Head of Department within 12 months of appointment.

There is no subject area restriction attached to the position but candidates should have a distinguished record of research and publications as well as strong international links.
