The Department of Philosophy at Dalhousie University invites
applications for a 10 month Limited Term appointment at the
Lecturer/Assistant Professor level, effective August 1, 2009. This
position is subject to budgetary approval. Area of specialization:
Political Philosophy or Social Philosophy or Legal Philosophy. Areas
of competence: Open. Interdisciplinary interest and capability,
especially in Philosophy of Technology and the Environment, is an
asset, as is competence in the History of Philosophy. The successful
applicant will be teaching courses at introductory, intermediate and
advanced undergraduate/graduate levels. Excellence in teaching and
research is a requirement. Applicants must hold (or be about to
receive) a Ph.D. in Philosophy. Salary will depend upon qualifications
and experience.
A complete curriculum vitae, transcripts (undergraduate and graduate),
a writing sample, a teaching dossier (including evidence of teaching
effectiveness and a statement of teaching interests and philosophies),
a statement of research interests, and three confidential letters of
recommendation (in hard copy, forwarded separately by the referees)
are required for application. A record of publication will be an
