Research Studentships
School of Politics and Sociology
Birkbeck is a world-class research and teaching institution and London's only specialist provider of evening higher education. The School of Politics and Sociology has gained an excellent reputation for the standard of its research and teaching. The School invites applications for the following studentships for MPhil/PhD students, commencing September 2009.
- The Paul Hirst Studentship. This will pay fees and maintenance at ESRC levels for three years. The holder will be expected to undertake some teaching within the School during this period.
- One ESRC quota studentship, available for either 1+3 or +3 applicants.
- One ESRC open competition allocation for 1+3 or +3.
- In addition to these studentships based in the School, Birkbeck is offering a studentship under the Overseas Research Awards Scheme (ORS) and three studentships under the Birkbeck International Research Studentship Scheme (BIRS). These awards cover the difference between home and international student fees for three years and are therefore available only to students classified as international for fee purposes.
