Two Lectureships in Philosophy (Lecturer A/Lecturer B)

Applications are invited for two permanent Lecturers in Philosophy to start
employment on September 1 2009 (either Lecturer A or Lecturer B, depending
on experience). Appointment to Lecturer A would be on UCL Grade 7 within the
salary range of £32,458 - £35,469 per annum (plus London Allowance of £2,781
per annum). Appointment to Lecturer B would be on UCL Grade 8 with a salary
of £36,532 per annum (plus £2,781 London Allowance per annum).

(1) Lecturer in Greek Philosophy. We are looking for a philosopher with
outstanding research potential, who must have ancient Greek philosophy as
one of their research and teaching specialities. The successful applicant
will be required to give lectures and seminars on Greek Philosophy and to
supervise graduate students in the subject, as well as taking on the usual
administrative jobs in the department.

(2) Lecturer in Philosophy with special responsibility for European Social
and Political Studies. We are looking for a philosopher with outstanding
research potential in any area of philosophy and/or its history. Although
all their teaching and research should be in philosophy, the successful
applicant will be required in 2010 to take over the directorship of UCL's
very successful European Social and Political Studies (ESPS) degree
programme. ESPS is a multi-disciplinary programme which has philosophy as
one of its core streams. The successful applicant will have significant
responsibilities, which will involve planning and managing ESPS, as well as
an intellectual and an academic commitment to the programme. More details

Candidates must have a PhD in a relevant area.
