**Welfare Economics: Where do we Stand?**

A summer school organized by the University of the Basque Country and the
Urrutia Elejalde Foundation.

1. Aims and scope:

The aim of the 12th edition of the school includes the debate of current
trends in Welfare Economics. In particular, the school aims to discuss
novel critiques and new proposals regarding individual and collective
choice. The regular course is structured around central topics each one
presented in one or two general talks, followed by specific research
papers on subjects related to the topic and by a debate.

Manzini, Prasanta Pattanaik, Ariel Rubinstein, Ran Spiegler, Jean Tirole

3. Call for posters

The school is mainly open to PhD. Students interested in the topic, from
any area in the world. The school aims to favor the interaction between
students, paper contributors and plenary speakers. Students will be able
to present their works or research ideas in a poster format. With this
aim, two sessions of one hour will follow the two first days of school.
These sessions aim to connect all the participants in a relaxed
atmosphere, by combining the academic poster presentation with a
coffee-break structure.

Around 20 participants will be selected to guarantee the quality of the
school. Submissions are welcome until march 30th, 2009.
