MSC in Philosophy of Mental Disorder - King's College London

THE DEPARTMENT OF PHILOSOPHY, KING'S COLLEGE LONDON
is pleased to announce a call for applications for the:

MSC IN THE PHILOSOPHY OF MENTAL DISORDER

This degree is the result of a collaboration between the King's Philosophy Department and the King's Institute of Psychiatry. The course is taught jointly by these two institutions and, for this reason, it is genuinely and helpfully interdisciplinary.

The course provides a unique opportunity to examine issues arising at the intersection of philosophy and the theory of mental disorder, and more generally to examine the philosophical and conceptual problems raised by the study of the human mind.

This MSc is intended primarily for students with a good degree in philosophy or psychology, or with a qualification in psychiatry, but applications from people with a different background will be considered. The degree requires one year of full-time study or two years of part-time study.

The course comprises a coursework component (assessed by submitted essays) and a dissertation. For their dissertation and their essays, students working in the area of mental health are encouraged to select topics relevant to their professional interests. In general, much freedom is given to students in the choice of their essay topics and dissertation titles.
