The Epistemology of Liberal Democracy research project is hosting an informal two-day workshop focusing on the epistemic merits of systems of free speech, deliberation, openness to dissenting opinion, disagreement and similar considerations advanced by Mill, Goldman, Buchanan and others. Work presented at the workshop will address the nature of the arguments advanced and to provide a more robust characterisation of the phenomena involved, including the notion of free speech. New work based on computer simulation will also be presented.
Speakes include Piers Turner (Ohio), Robert Talisse (Vanderbilt), Erik J. Olsson (Lund University), Klemens Kappel (University of Copenhagen), Frank Zenker (Lund University), Kristoffer Ahlström (University of Copenhagen), Michael Lynch (Connecticut).
Anyone interested in these issues are cordially invited to take part in the workshop. Moreover, there might be space for a few extra presentations. Anyone who might have some work to present, should contact Klemens Kappel (kappel@hum.ku.dk)
