starting date preferably 1st September 2009, for a duration of three years. The remuneration will be the following: 1st year: 39’600 CHF; 2nd year: 42’600 CHF; 3rd year 45’600 CHF.

 

The successful candidate should

- have a master in philosophy

- have a training in ancient or medieval philosophy and have good knowledge of Ancient Greek or Latin

- have an active interest in Classical Philosophy of Mind and be willing to write his/her PhD in that subject area. The PhD should be completed within the three years of the PhD position under the co-supervision of prof. A. Schniewind and prof. A. de Libera.

- be familiar with analytic philosophy

- be fluent in English; fluent French would be an advantage.

 

The Research Module « The Mind and the Self » is part of the Swiss National Science Foundation doctoral programme (Pro*Doc) « Mind, Normativity, Self and Properties ». The PhD candidate will have to take part in the training programme of that Pro*Doc (http://www.philosophie.ch/prodoc-romand).
