Call for Submissions:
2009 Elise M. Boulding Student Paper Award

The Section on Peace, War and Social Conflict of the American Sociological Association invites undergraduate and graduate students to submit a high-quality paper on any topic related to the sociology of peace, war, military institutions, or social conflict. In the event of exceptional quality, the committee may make Elise M. Boulding Student Paper Awards on both the undergraduate and graduate levels. The first place award for the undergraduate and for the graduate student papers is $150.00 each toward the cost of travel to the 2009 ASA Annual Meeting in San Francisco in August.

Guidelines:
Papers must have been written within the past two years. Papers may be multi-authored. They must be typed and double-spaced with a 12-point font. Papers may not exceed 25 pages, including tables, illustrations, and references.

Each submission must include a separate cover page giving a paper title and listing the author’s name and contact information (including mailing address, telephone number, and e-mail address). The cover page must also tell whether the paper was written as an undergraduate or graduate student paper. No author-identifying information should be included anywhere beyond the separate cover page. The paper title should also appear on the fist page of the body of the paper.

All students will be notified electronically by June 8, 2009 about their submission and the final selections. A three-person committee will judge the submissions.

Send submissions as a Word document or a PDF file attached to an E-mail by March 25, 2009 to:
