The Centre for Philosophy, Justice and Health at UCL is launching a new MA programme in the Philosophy, Politics and Economics of Health, starting in 2008-9. For details see: http://www.ucl.ac.uk/cpjh/MAprogramme It will be taught by a number of departments, including Philosophy, Political Science, The Medical School, Epidemiology, Science and Technology Studies and the Institute of Global Health.
Compulsory modules include:
1. Introduction to the Philosophy, Politics and Economics of Health
2. Economic Evaluation of Health
3. Health Policy and Reform
A wide variety of optional modules are available including
1. Global Justice and Health
2. Public Ethics
3. The Philosophy and Ethics of Translational Clinical Science
4. Ideas of Health and Sickness in Industrial Society
5. Democracy, Citizenship and Constitutions
A number of bursaries (some fees only and some fees plus a contribution to living expenses) are available specifically for this degree programme, which is available by full-time or flexible study. Applications are now being accepted, and for those wishing to considered for a bursary applications should be received by March 1st.
