Job description
The selected candidate will be offered either a tenure track position or an assistant professor position. The latter is a tenured position. The tenure track option is meant for a selected candidate who has recently completed his or her PhD or is about to complete it. S/he will be offered a four-year contract. At the end of the four years an evaluation will take place that is based on ratings of the quality of teaching and quality and quantity of research output. If the evaluation is positive, a tenured position is offered. A selected candidate who completed the PhD longer ago and already has a record in teaching and research will be offered a tenured position.
Main responsibilities
Candidates for both types of function will participate in ongoing research (http://www.tilburguniversity.nl/faculties/fsw/oldendorff/researchunits/behaviorinculturalcontext/)
and education (http://www.tilburguniversity.nl/faculties/fsw/departments/ccp/education/). An important part of the job will be conducting research, cooperating with senior staff members and researchers elsewhere, and (inter)national research fund raising. The section is responsible for teaching cross-cultural psychology in the Bachelor and Master programmes (mainly psychology students, but also students of social sciences, humanities, and business). Teaching is done in lectures, small working groups, and supervision of (small groups of) students.
Requirements
Required education/skills:Doctorate
We look for a scholar with an interest in cross-cultural psychology, as manifested in the publication record. The candidate has experience in research that compares countries or ethnic groups, research into acculturation and multiculturalism among immigrants and refugees, or both. Candidates who do not have experience in both kinds of research should have the willingness to extend their research to cover both aspects.
The candidate is able and willing to settle in the Netherlands.

The selected candidates will apply for a full-time contract and will be ranked in the Dutch university employment system. The gross salary for the assistant professor will vary depending on age and experience, between € 3195,- and € 4970,- per month (for a full-time appointment).
